RE: Processor speed: good enough? - RDilus - 07-29-2009

ok this is useless
agp is 2 slower then pci-e
pci-e is just damn faster
and i cant believe there is a agp slot in that kind of pc

RE: Processor speed: good enough? - FloW3184 - 07-29-2009

lol...
you also can buy an AGP board for a phenom2 CPU! (you didnt know?)
and dont say that AGP is slower than PCI-E!
you really have no clue, do you!?!

with his cpu and a 3850 AGP he is max(!) 3% slower than if he had a PCI-E card!
the only pro for PCI-E is the back-channel that is alot faster than AGP - but this is only needed for stuff like video-encoding on the GPU.

now stop fooling around with things you dont understand and go back2topic!

or you just shut 3% slower u kidding me ?
AGP is just slower!
not a little 3% moran

RE: Processor speed: good enough? - Iulius - 07-30-2009

i'd say its more then 3% but definatly not worth to care about.

if agp 8x is too slow for 3850, then think about todays cards :

agp x8 means 2,1Gbyte/s

todays 295/4870 x2 are about 4 times faster.

pcie 2.0 x16 means 8gb/s

so you cant use this cards cause pcie2.0 is too slow ?

im still using a 4870 on pcie 1.1 x16, means 4gb/s

this connections limits more then his 3850 on agp x8.

And im still happy, can you believe that ?

To both of the fools that seriously FLIPPED this topic upside down

My topic did not originate with children badmouthing a card that does not contribute to me playing dolphin slower. Stop comparing HIGH end cards with modern day cards...Ridlus and Iulius...both of you are under the assumption that by buying a RADEON 3850 PCI-E card will give a 5-20 FPS boost, when in actuality, BOTH the radeon 3850 AGP AND PCI-E play the exact same.

both of you not only VEERED off topic, but also created incomplete opinions. Sure, the AGP slot itself is not as powerful as a PCI-E slot, hence it being obviously discontinued, but this isn't about the SLOT dumbasses, it's about the CARD ITSELF..

Stop being silly fools and grow up...you can start off by learning how to spell moron next time.

RE: Processor speed: good enough? - boogerlad - 07-31-2009

modern day cards don't fully saturate the agp bus, it's just for future proofing and scalability.

RE: Processor speed: good enough? - bananaclawz - 07-31-2009

and these AGP busses are still strong till this day. There's no way I would buy a radeon 4870 just for 15 FPS more in games...that would give me 75 FPS in dolphin instead of 60 , MIND you, a motherboard AND new PSU?...for FIFTEEN MORE FRAMES?...people are buying money blind
Before criticizing on AGP ensues, look at this link:

Ok, I have that card and it SUCKS!! if you buy this you WONT even get more than FPS >.< i got 1,5 GB ram and 4 GHz on that PC and radeon 3850, well it sucks! I tryed a other vid card and dolphin was running like 50 FPS (brawl), witht he radeon 3850 card it was running like 15-18 FPS, so i don't recommend that card lol :p

RE: Processor speed: good enough? - Iulius - 08-06-2009

funny to use a game that has auto-frameskip to compare graphic cards.

its like : "hey i got a new car, now i can run faster"

the only difference in this statement and yours is, that everyone knows that the one above is wrong, but only few people can laugh about yours.

its like those "10 guys are either intelligent or dumb" jokes.
