Processor speed: good enough? - bananaclawz - 07-28-2009 Hello everyone, Despite many posts listed here...I'd like to have my specs observated, in regards as to whether they'll be able to run dolphin AT FULL SPEEDS in the near future. I'm using: Video: HIS Digital ATI 3850 AGP 8X card Sound: Soundblaster Live 24 bit Processor: Kentsfield Qx6800 quad core @ 2.93 GHZ (not overclocked, mobo won't allow it) OS: Windows XP professional 32 bit OS: Other Sh*t My question is if I should be able to play Zelda: Wind Waker at 100% full speeds...or ANY other game for that matter. and IF not, then will that capability be possible in the future. Bear in mind, Zelda plays VERY good, but outdoors will never run at a full 60FPS...It drops to about 36..and that's using Build 3874. Any help or enlightenment would be valued. thanks- RE: Processor speed: good enough? - THELUKESTIR - 07-28-2009 (07-28-2009, 10:06 AM)bananaclawz Wrote: Hello everyone, I will help ya out give me a few minutes ^^ ![]() ![]() ![]() try these settings and use build 3891 found here: http://www.mediafire.com/orleans RE: Processor speed: good enough? - bananaclawz - 07-28-2009 Say thanks, I'll definitely try that and get back to you within the hour. RE: Processor speed: good enough? - bananaclawz - 07-28-2009 awesome guys, thanks!...the intro of Zelda, WW does run at 40 fps...but otherwise everything is spot on 60 =)...now just talking hypotheticals, do you think it'll run faster in the near future?...If so that'd be phenominal...despite it ALREADY being fantastic!!! THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RE: Processor speed: good enough? - RDilus - 07-28-2009 Video: HIS Digital ATI 3850 AGP 8X card Processor: Kentsfield Qx6800 quad core @ 2.93 GHZ (not overclocked, mobo won't allow it) First thing is WTF :S an AGP card with a quardcore pc with mobo u use did you build youre own mobo rofl xD i recordment PCI-EXPRESS 1.1 HIGHLY AGP cards are very slow u pc have a pci-e 1.1 or 2 port i know for sure so upgrade videocard RE: Processor speed: good enough? - jasong - 07-28-2009 Yeah that's a huge discrepancy lol. RE: Processor speed: good enough? - Iulius - 07-28-2009 agp x8 is not that slow that i cant make use of a 3850. and 3850 is MUCH MUCH MUCH more then dolphin needs. @ bananaclawz : your machine is maybe not good enough to play WW always with full speed, but it should be certainly fast enough to play it with fun most of the time. and dont refer to fps, they tell a shit. zelda runs with 25fps (pal) and 30fps(ntsc). but with using rev 35xx++ the framecounter is completly wrong and does not show the real fps. if you want to know your real game speed, try 34xx. for example RE: Processor speed: good enough? - THELUKESTIR - 07-28-2009 (07-28-2009, 11:36 PM)Iulius Wrote: agp x8 is not that slow that i cant make use of a 3850. stop being a fool... when the frame counter is at 60 it is allmost allways full speed, and he will be able to play fullspeed all the time except in places where there are bugs with trancparencys and such. All you do is spam OMGWTFBBQ ITS 25 FPS AND 30FPS.... thats the internal resolution not what dolphin reads, i AGREE that the fps counter isnt the best way to show speed but its ALL WE HAVE and We all dont make up stories... i can run Windwaker on a mobile AMD x2 @2.0ghz at fullspeed inside and in some places outside and besides that it usually doesnt dip below 40fps (dont even say it... dont even) you can still check the speed of the emulation by looking at the frames... 30fps is usually half speed 60fps is usually fullspeed |
