How to dump ALL textures from a game, without having to visit every area - Alo81 - 04-30-2013

I was wondering if this was possible to do. I already know about the filesystem section and being able to extract individual files, but I'm unsure on which files in this game hold the textures.

This specific example, I'd like to rip all of the textures from Donkey Kong Country Returns.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

Games can use numerous arbitrary methods to store their textures in their .isos. There's no single method to extract these that works on every game except Dump Textures.

Besides, if you *do* extract all the textures from the game files, how are you gonna get the hashes in the file name that the texture cache uses to identify the textures? Unless you're fine with either getting all those hashes by writing a simple program that uses Dolphin's texture hash code or making your texture pack require you to mod your .iso, you're gonna want to just play through the whole game with Dump Textures checked.

I figured this would probably be the required method, but I figured it would be worth asking. Thanks.

If you have the money, you could pay someone minimum wage to play the game right through for you. You could even get a friend/sibling/nephew to play the game right through, and convince them it was fun, rather than a chore.
