Dolphin Graphics Card Requirement - DolphinatorMan - 04-27-2013

Hi my friend has an ATI Radeon HD 4200 and he can't run Dolphin because of the low fps (10-30), otherwise his computer is good, 8gb Ram i5 core processor. Now i have a ATI Radeon HD 4500, 6 GB Ram and also a core i5 processor. Will i be able to run Dolphin with a good FPS? If not, is there anything me or my friend could do to run it? We are both running windows 7.
We are also running dolphin 3.5
Thanks a lot your help is greatly appreciated

"core i5" is entirely meaningless. I5s range from crap to amazing. Give a model number if you want an answer.

That i5 model?
HD 4500 = Minimum graphics, you will have to be subject to that

Sorry, here is the model number
BX80623I52310
Does the processor even matter? Isn't it mostly about the graphics card if the fps is really low?

You wrong, emulator requires CPU processing, GPU if you want pretty picture

No, the video card is almost entirely meaningless to emulation. Your cpu isn't so bad, and should be able to run some easier games at full speed, but will struggle on many.

That game you want to play? You can play many games without problems maybe with sound problems but is depending on the game ...

It's not CPU model
CPU model is sth like this "Core i5 2310"

Btw , Ati 4200 is an onboard chip (on motherboard) . It's terrible
Ati 4500 series include so many graphic cards : 4520 , 4550 , 4570 , 4580 . Which one ?
If it was either 4550 or 4570 or 4580 , you would have a chance (run Dolphin at minimum settings)

All of them are so old . No one sell them anymore ...
IF you want a good graphic card for Dolphin
Recommend for 1366x768 display :
_2.5xIR (1600x1320) : GT 630 , GT 640 / AMD 6670 DDR3
_3xIR (1920x1584) : AMD 6670 GDDR5
Recommend for 1920x1080 display :
_4xIR (2560x2112) : : As minimum - GTX 650 / AMD 7750 GDDR5 , Ok : GTX 650 Ti Boost or AMD 7790

That cpu should be fine as long as it's paired with a decent graphics card. Your HD 4550 should be enough as long as you leave the internal resolution set to 1x.

@DolphinatorMan: Tell us which games you've been planning to play
