As mentioned the only legal way to get games to use on Dolphin is to make the backup yourself, it should be little effort to import a Pal copy, stick it in your Wii and dump it to your PC. The Wii is one of the easiest consoles to enable for homebrew providing you have firmware/menu version 3.4 or earlier.

Technically software giants want you to even think making a backup is just as illegal. In the DMCA it's stated you are not allowed to circumvent copy protection in order to make a backup, I'm not sure how well that will hold up in court since it's never been challenged yet.

the only way he can rip a Pal version is through LG drivers, His wii can't read the game, it's region protected.

Not if he disables it. Wink

I REALLY hate the wording used where it says that. It says that making backups "is not necessary."

Really?

And who are you to tell me that Nintendo?

yeah, but that would:

A) be illegal.

B.1) must be done through hardware replacement.
or
B.2) He would need to dump the pal iso, take off its region protection and then burn it into a dvd, which would be pointless. Since, he just wants to dump PAL games into his PC.

By A) I think you mean cIOSes. Depending on your stance on the issue I guess you could call it illegal.

Hmm, I thought a homebrew enabled Wii was region free? That you could use homebrew to dump or play a backup, or play a game from any region?

Not too sure. I've never tried to dump or play a non-US/NTSC on my Wii.

But I'm pretty sure any region protection that there is NOT disabled (and is not required to be disabled) to install HBC. This is a thing you can disable with hacks later.

I imported Dawn of the New World from US before and Homebrew makes it play Fine on my PAL Wii.

Though not sure if you can dump it, since I haven't tried, but I'm guessing you would be able to since you can play it?

Well, if you can PLAY it I'm pretty sure you can at least dump it. Have you tried?

I never tried since I heard TOS: Dawn of the new world doesn't work so well on Dolphin.

Doesn't hurt to make backups though.
