RE: Making an iso from disc - Luigi__ - 07-04-2009 Never heard of that bannerbomb exploit. It was released after v4.0, wasn't it? Ah, it uses a malformed banner to crash the WiiOS and run code... I already guessed it from its name. Maybe in a newer version of their firmware Nintendo will handle malformed banners correctly and this exploit won't work anymore... but hackers will find a workaround or another exploit ![]() And that will keep happening again and again
RE: Making an iso from disc - KHRZ - 07-04-2009 Nintendo must be freaking out, some stuff in the homebrew browser have 200000 downloads (200000 modded wiis?) bet their next console will be a fortress
RE: Making an iso from disc - Luigi__ - 07-04-2009 Wow! 200 thousand downloads! Maybe, for their next console, they'll work more on locking the system than on gameplay ![]() perhaps it'll actually be a Wii with a super-locked system. But hackers will find an exploit

I just don't get why they bother, it happened with the PSP and the exact same thing is happening with the Wii. It is also bound to happen to any future consoles. I just don't get why they work so hard wasting resources to block exploits when another way will always be found around it to run unlicensed "homebrew" code. They should really try to work with the homebrew community rather than shun it, such a move could possibly bring good publicity for the consoles. RE: Making an iso from disc - KHRZ - 07-04-2009 Yeah. I'm surprised at how Nintendo officially manages to keep 100% quiet about the wii being the most hacked console ever. And Brawl gotta be the most hacked game. RE: Making an iso from disc - Luigi__ - 07-04-2009 I agree with you. Why do these crazy companies absolutely want to prevent users from running homebrew on their consoles??? Why do them spend all their time and energy patching all the exploits they find that allow running homebrew, where they could simply allow homebrews??? It would be easier and better both for them and for us. But no. They're stupid. EDIT: KHRZ Wrote:the wii being the most hacked console everThey're even more stupid. They suck at preventing hacks, and they keep doing it like if they were going to die if they ever let their consoles get hacked. And Sony is like that too. Sad. I guess they're doing all that just because they fear to earn less money. These kinds of companies always want to earn more and more money. It's also the case with Microsoft, that's why they added that activation system to Windows. But we're getting offtopic
RE: Making an iso from disc - KHRZ - 07-04-2009 They want Wiiware money and to sell 10k development kits ![]() but they should always allow the free marked. When someone makes a game for free he shouldn't have to pay Nintendo to release it. My highest respects goes to anyone developing for free (Dolphin developers )A great example of a free game (Flash): Super Mario 63. Could almost been a DS game. http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/498969 RE: Making an iso from disc - Luigi__ - 07-04-2009 I totally agree! These money eaters should allow free apps! I think that if Nintendo could sue every people who hacks their consoles to run homebrew on them, they wouldn't hesitate to do it. But they can't because these homebrews are legal. All they can do is to keep patching the holes in their fucking software. Same applies for emulators. If they could they'd sue emu devs. But these emulators are perfectly legal (though the way people use them can be illegal). But there's not much they can do. They can't prevent already released games from running on emulators. RE: Making an iso from disc - Almond - 07-05-2009 You know what screw this, I'm going to get an LG drive, I think I damaged my Wii hacking it and now I need to give it to a person who fixes consoles If I get an LG drive will the drive be able to read the files in the disc so I copy them out of the disc and make an iso out of them to play it on Dolphin? btw the disc is original and PAL too.
