Are Game Copying Devices Illegal?

They enable the user to make, play and distribute illegal copies of video game software which violates Nintendo's copyrights and trademarks. These devices also allow for the uploading and downloading of ROMs to and from the Internet. Based upon the functions of these devices, they are illegal.

You didn't get it. Nintendo is saying "based on their functions of distributing the games, they are illegal". But when the purpose is personal use, it's not illegal... they just want it sound like they are illegal when they aren't. It's like saying CTRL + C is illegal because it's purpose is to plagiarize.

Well, what you have read is about sharing to other people, personal use of discs is legal everywhere.
