Best Set-up Gamecube - pliundemix - 04-16-2012 Hi there... I downloaded recently Dolphin. I'm interested only in playing GAMECUBE games with it.... not Wii because I would imagine that requires a powerful computer which I do not own. Well I tried playing Mario Kart Double Dash. When I first start the game I get SPEED: 100% and FPS: 60-65. But as soon as I start playing, as soon as I get into a race the FPS drops to 20- 35 and the speed doesn't go over 50% The game is playable but it is really slow... What is the best setting recommended so I can get games like this and especially any GAMECUBE, remember GC not Wii games on - to be played on something near 100% speed and a higher FPS? This is my computer: Windows Vista Ultimate 32-Bit Inter Core 2 Duo 1.5GHz 2GB of RAM NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS I have all the latest Directx. So please let me know if there is any chance for me to play games really smooth, and let me know the config because I've tried moving one thing here and another thing there and it has improved in some cases and in others it has gotten worse, so I really need a good configuration... or if there is no chance for me let me know also. Thanks! RE: Best Set-up Gamecube - admin89 - 04-16-2012 Core i series 2.5Ghz+ for GC games Core i series 3.0GHz+ for Wii games Some gamecube games like F-zero even need i3/i5/i7 3.5Ghz+ and some gamecube games are not playable on any pc (include the strongest pc atm) i3/i5/i7 2.5Ghz+ should run most GC games fine , not all RE: Best Set-up Gamecube - Shonumi - 04-16-2012 IIRC, with Dolphin a number of GC and Wii games are fairly even when it comes to hardware demands, so it's not as if GC games are always easier to emulate, and Wii games harder to emulate. Some titles, F-Zero like admin89 mentioned, are more demanding than a lot of Wii games. The best settings for every game differ; your best bet is to look up that specific game. The forums here have many game threads in the Game Discussion section. The Dolphin Wiki is another great resource that offers some suggested settings, and it tells you what specs users had along with their performance. It's useful in determining what to expect with your own system. For example, check out the Mario Kart Double Dash!! wiki entry. I'm sure it'll prove handy, well, as long as the game you're looking up has enough info. ![]() Post your settings as text or screenshots, and then we can probably tell you what's generally good to enable/disable. Press the Config button and look at the General tab. Also press the Graphics tab and look at the General, Enhancements, and Hacks tabs. Those are where some of the most common configuration changes occur. RE: Best Set-up Gamecube - Garteal - 04-16-2012 Unfortunately, you won't be able to play any game 'near 100%', be it a Wii or GC game. What admin89 is trying to say, is that you should get a current generation Intel CPU, a Sandy Bridge (or Ivy Bridge later), with atleast a 2.5GHz clockspeed. RE: Best Set-up Gamecube - Shonumi - 04-16-2012 I shouldn't post on these forums first thing in the morning... >< Seem to have overlooked the OP's specs. Yeah, 1.5GHz is pretty weak for Dolphin. That doesn't affect the info in my earlier post, if you still want to try playing Dolphin that is. There's probably not much settings alone will help with your system however. RE: Best Set-up Gamecube - sixor - 04-16-2012 lol 1.5ghz and 8400gs wow get i3 2100 + 6850 RE: Best Set-up Gamecube - neobrain - 04-17-2012 Yeah, just give up on Dolphin if you want to do serious gaming. Or read the FAQs / rules, which suggest that you should search for existing threads before creating a new one. If you had done that, you knew that your CPU is bscly useless for Dolphin. Closed. |
