New to dolphin, and its awesome! - Bailie - 04-09-2012

I had a burning desire to play some old games and came across dolphin so I loaded it up. It exceeded all of my expectations for an EMU. I was really impressed how it scaled games up to my surround display. I'm playing games ment for 720p in ultra HD (3240x1920) with just the click of a switch. Infact, its easier to play dolphin games in ultra HD than some PC games.

Great job

Attached a sample screen shot. I'm running 100% most of the time. Hardly notice any slow downs.

edit: photobucket is gay and resizes the picture. It is in 3235x1820 resolution. File is also to large to attach to the forum directly.

You're both technically wrong. The wii renders most games at 640 x 528, or 528p. The output is 480p but not the internal resolution. And game resolution is defined by the internal resolution, not the output resolution. For example a 600p game that upscales to 1080p before output like CoD is still considered 600p.

yayz for offtopic!

@ all:
a) The output resolution is 480 for NTSC and 574 for PAL (no one cares about ntsc so this is the important value Tongue)
b) progressive output is not default (so, you're all "technically wrong" :p) ... there is no default setting for that, games just use whatever they like to

@ NV:
a) the p suffix in "528p" doesn't really make sense for IR
b) IR doesn't really matter for this discussion.. Just because the game renders to a vertical resolution of 528 doesn't mean that's what the game was designed for (in fact, some games will only use 480 lines of the EFB, effectively reducing the IR) :p

some games are glitchy when running in a higher resolution than native.
But there are only a few.

Whoa hang on a sec. The ir is the resolution that the games are rendered before being scaled to the output resolution, right? Which is also what happens on dolphin as we can adjust both resolutions separately. How can it use less lines on the framebuffer than the number of lines that is actually rendered?
