Update Dolphin without losing data - anoon - 04-07-2012

hey guys.

I'm using dolphin since a long time and there is a new version out. I have a lot of saves and custom controller settings, is there a way to upgrade to the latest version but still keep all the saves and other stuff?

RE: Update Dolphin without losing data - DefenderX - 04-07-2012

Just move the new Dolphin.exe in the folder of the old Dolphin.exe.

Done! Smile

really? the dolphin.exe is the only thing that's being updated? What about the other files?

Depends on the revision Wink

When you're on r6XXX or something like that, you should update everything (except User folder)

btw: In the "User" folder, there are all your saves, controller settings etc. This folder shouldn't be overwrited.

So it will work if I just copy everything expect the User folder?

My version is 3.0-415 dirty, the newest one is 3.0-587.

Ah, just move the new Dolphin.exe into the folder of the old ^^

no problem Wink

Thats not quite accurate, all your saves and settings are included in the USER folder, copy the entire USER folder from the old versions folder and overwrite it in the new one

Only copying the exe will not work with a number of versions, especially old ones

Also, save states don't transfer from one version to another. Use real saves if that's not already the case.
