Graphics card? - taekwondork1986 - 03-31-2012 I need your help ![]() I'm very new to the emulator thing (although so far I'm eating it up). I started with the usual NES and SNES, then N64, and now GC/Wii. My current computer (I built it to be an HTPC with a very under powered CPU) handles all the NES and SNES games but starts to lag with some of the more demanding N64 games. Anyway, I know its time for an upgrade if I'm going to run Dolphin so my question is this: What graphics card with HDMI output will allow me to play the Zelda titles with very few hangups? I have already seen some suggestions but as I'm still a noob to building computers I just thought I'd ask. Thanks in advance for any information you guys can supply. I have already purchased; i5 2500k Asus p8h67m pro case with plenty of fans 750w psu I will be purchasing; G.Skills Ripjaw X series 16gb DDR3 1333mhz RE: Graphics card? - DefenderX - 03-31-2012 As GPU, i would choose the HD 6870. btw: Why did you buy an H67 MoBo? With this, you can't overclock your i5-2500k... A P67/Z68 is needed. RE: Graphics card? - Zee530 - 03-31-2012 For very few hangups you need a good processor which you already have, now if only you could OC it? RE: Graphics card? - taekwondork1986 - 03-31-2012 I really appreciate the quick reply AND all the info on the mobo. I thought that there were overclock options for the board but when you sent that I immediately got on the line with Newegg and got the order fixed. I will have the P67 board ![]() I guess that brings up a new question though Is there any point in getting high (2200, 2133, or 1866) mhz ram? I would go 1600 at least now that the mobo supports it. RE: Graphics card? - DefenderX - 03-31-2012 No. You won't recognize any differences. (only on benchmarks). The difference between 1333 and 1600 is very, very small. RE: Graphics card? - taekwondork1986 - 03-31-2012 Thanks. I really do appreciate the information. RE: Graphics card? - Zee530 - 03-31-2012 Processes to be executed are loaded into the RAM, the faster the speed of the RAM, the faster processes get loaded (your programs open) RE: Graphics card? - AnyOldName3 - 03-31-2012 But as DefenderX said, it doesn't make a noticeable difference. RE: Graphics card? - Zee530 - 03-31-2012 You never know a few Mhz can save your life someday
RE: Graphics card? - DefenderX - 03-31-2012 well... maybe. But not with RAM Yea, DDR3 @ 2200 MHz is really faster, but the difference between 1333 and 1600 is, i said that already, very small.
