title says it all im having this error in linux mint after i compiled 3.0-457. game is mario kart.

Did you verify the ISO checksum?

the iso works on another computer, but this is the compressed version of that iso. does that matter?
oh, and before it displays this error, it says failed to find wiimem or something like that, and before that, it says failed to write bconf to sysconf or something like that.

Make sure it finds its template settings file, I think it sometimes installs that into the wrong location... if in doubt, check with strace. Also, don't post "or something like that", quote (or screenshot) the exact error message, please. ;P
Also, decompress the ISO and try with the same file which works on the other computer to verify that's not the reason.
