If you overclock, very significant. Go for an i5 2500K instead. It's a lot cheaper and performs the same with dolphin and most applications. Both will do fine. On my old rig, I overclocked my Athlon II x2 from 2.0 to 2.5. RE: Is AMD Athlon x3 455 @ 3.3Ghz better than Core 2 Duo e7400 @ 2.8 Ghz for Dolphin? - StupidStories - 03-16-2012 Clockgen can't raise the CPU multiplier, which is the only way Sandy Bridge CPUs can be overclocked. On LGA 775 boards it can cause nasty issues with the NB straps. RE: Is AMD Athlon x3 455 @ 3.3Ghz better than Core 2 Duo e7400 @ 2.8 Ghz for Dolphin? - PaRaDoX_94 - 03-16-2012 umm the motherboard that Im looking for is one cheap (compared to high-end motherboards) that support OC and if you can recomend me a good cpu-fan will be great I think im going to boy the i5 with a cheap asus motherboard so the AMD FX series are bad for Dolphin? is there a benchmark comparing the Phenom II with the FX and i5/i7? RE: Is AMD Athlon x3 455 @ 3.3Ghz better than Core 2 Duo e7400 @ 2.8 Ghz for Dolphin? - PaRaDoX_94 - 03-16-2012 I just overclock my athlon @ 3.552 Ghz and it works great in most games with openGL, exept the metroid prime saga and mario kart wii, those runs @ 60-25fps depending on the area, ssbm and ssbb at full speed, and the zelda games (WW, TP & SW) runs perfectly... how much performance will the i5 give me in those games, if most of them run fine or playable? |
