After ticking "search for subfolders," the program hangs and becomes unresponsive - DRB - 03-02-2012
I downloaded the emulator (3.0-427) and it's been running great all day, no problems at all.
The only thing is, isos weren't showing up on the main window then I booted the program. Apparently it wasn't finding them in the directory I chose.
I realized that they were each in their own individual folder, so I checked "search for subfolders." Then, the program became unresponsive, and now I can't really do anything about it.
My question is, if I uninstall and reinstall the program, will I lose any memory card data?
Furthermore, how do I get iso files to show up like a list when I start the application?

Just copy out the GC & Wii folder out and then uninstall and reinstall dolphin and paste it back, i'm guessing one of the isos is might be corruped or something that it makes dolphin unresponsive when trying to read it, you can choose as many folders to search for iso as possible, try selecting them each one by one and make sure they show up in dolphin one at a time till you can find the one that actually makes it unresponsive
Also try a different version, it might be a problem with that version

How many individual folders and possible locations are we talking about here? Maybe that's the reason Dolphin hangs.
Try keeping your folder structure clean with as less folders as possible.
For example I have it like this:
C:\Games\Video Games\Games\Wii
C:\Games\Video Games\Games\GC
With all the Wii ISOs in the Wii folder and all the GC .gcm files in the GC folder and not separate folders for every game.
Your problem could be because of to many folders and locations, but then again I could be wrong.

Yes delete the entire Dolphin folder and keep that card file and the SRAM.raw file too.
You reinstall Dolphin by extracting it again, and place the memory card files where it belongs.

I won't be ticking that box anytime soon. The main directory it was using was my account folder, ie my first and last name. Assuming "search for subfolders" does what I think it does, it was probably looking through literally every file on my computer.

All you have to do basically is to have 2 folders, GC and Wii and place the corresponding ISO/GCM files under them and all Dolphin have to do is keep track of two folders only.
It was a long time ago I even ticked that check box.
