svn 3286 faster in "native" resolution - dooms33ker - 06-10-2009 Ive been testing the difference between SVN 3089 and 3286. I've found that with a 2.5ghz T9300 core 2 duo cpu and a 8800m gts there is a difference of 2-5 fps in most games between native and 1400x900 resolutions. This is using the 64bit build with windows 7 RC. Is this normal? the difference is present in Twilight Princess, Wind Waker and Smash bros. In native res Wind Waker is full speed, Smash bros is full speed (with the exception of one stage) and Twilight Princess is almost full speed (there is a difference of ~2fps while in 1400x900 in TP). RE: svn 3286 faster in "native" resolution - ector - 06-10-2009 well it renders at a lower resolution in native, so if your GPU can't quite keep up, it's only logical that it's faster. And since you have a mobile GPU, that's probably what's going on.... I play Crysis on High with just shadows on medium and still get 30fps average....Dolphin should be fine graphically with probably just a geforce 8500 I don't see how an 8800m gts is the problem. the funny thing is that there is no difference between native and 1400x900 in svn 3089 just in 3286. I will try a newer svn to see if there is a difference. RE: svn 3286 faster in "native" resolution - hakunushi - 06-10-2009 o hell yeah, a geforce 6100 made the job for dolphin, on my sisters computer, theres a amd x2 5800+ there ond an onboard geforce 6100 on it, i could run mario kat wii there and play with the netplay, ofcourse the gfx got a litle bad, but i have an low end computer wich has a radeon 3450, and on radeon control center theres a marker for how much of the gpu is being used, incredibly, mario kart wii with its full gfx on and not looking ugly it used only 35 - 37% according to this marker. using the rivatuner on this computer using a 9600 gt(only one since dolphin doesnt make use of sli) it was reported a use of only 11% of the gpu, since a 8800 is a tad faster than a 9600 even considering its a mobile version i dont think i will go over that 11% that much or less. oh yeah, ive tested it and its true, GC zelda runs 18 fps on my computer now runs 20 fps with native resolution fix, yeah theres apost somewhere of rene mauricio showing that the gfx got worse with the new internal resolution system, so the guy fixed it, and after that games wich runs slow now gets more 2 fps with native resolution, btw, zelda is the only game wich runs that slow on my rig, on native resolution now it runs 20 fps but looks ugly, i don think im gpu limited, am i?. I get 25-27 fps in the beginning village and 27-30 fps every where else Ive been. (I haven't seen Hyrule field yet but I've read that it has horrible performance.) Try Wind Waker as there might be a performance hit as well there. In the very intro title screen before you press start native res nets me a whole 3-4 fps as the camera pans over the whole island. (I get 25 fps at that moment) Other than that (and the exception of one small area with lots of grass I get full speed everywhere.) |
