too fast or too slow. other audio does not help - zerank - 06-02-2009

First of all here yo have my laptop specs:

- Core 2 Duo P8400 processor (that's 2,26Ghz)
- 4Gb Ram
- Nvidia 9200M GS (i know it's crappy but it shouldn't be a problem)
- Windows Vista 32bit

So i've been testing several dolphin versions and I got very different results.
The rom i use for testing is GC Super Smash Bros Melee.

Lastest versions (such as 2666, 3089 and 3286) run VERY slow. I only get about 30fps when several players fighting. I've tried openGL and directx.

Old versions such as 1149 run way too fast, and i can't make them work slower.

Best I could find was v1400. Works too fast (100-130 FPS) but enabling "other audio" the speed is playable (50 FPS). However when several players and big scenarios, it works pretty slow, about 35-40FPS (this doesn't happen with "other audio" off).

I know this issue is common (and boring) but i don't know what else i can do. I also tried deactivating "Idle skipping" as i found in some posts in this forum, but it made no difference.

Thanks for your help!
