New to Dolphin...this is awesome! - GeneralSu - 03-14-2011 My Gamecube broke a long time ago, but I've been itching to play Animal Crossing for a long time, as well as SMBM adnd Super Mario Sunshine. So, I just stumbled across this emulator. This is AWESOME! So, I have a few questions. 1. Gamecube and Wii "roms" are in an iso format, correct? And that is how they are recognized, right? Man, those files are huge! 2. Can I just use keyboard and mouse for gamecube games? Will that work? 3. I want to play this on a pretty powerful laptop, but will it overheat? I don't want that to happen... Thanks! RE: New to Dolphin...this is awesome! - caramba2654 - 03-14-2011 1. Yes, the games are in ISO format. 2. Yes, you can use your keyboard, as well as a PS3 controller and a Wiimote. 3. Your laptop probably won't overheat. In any case, turn it off. It would be good if you posted your specs so we can try to pre-determine this. RE: New to Dolphin...this is awesome! - parasite64 - 03-14-2011 (03-14-2011, 01:32 PM)caramba2654 Wrote: 1. Yes, the games are in ISO format. 1. There are other formats aswell, for example it's possible for Gamecube games to be in the .GCM format. 2. It's also possible to use essentially any device that you can connect to your computer. I've played several shoot 'em up games with a guitar hero controller before, among other things. 3. Unlikely it would overheat, there shouldn't be a problem. RE: New to Dolphin...this is awesome! - GeneralSu - 03-16-2011 Which format is the smallest size? RE: New to Dolphin...this is awesome! - shuffle2 - 03-16-2011 fwiw, ".gcm" is actually the same as an iso file, you can rename them back and forth if you want. also, you can use dolphin to compress any gc/wii game to the .gcz format.
