Wind Waker - bwinkler1692 - 02-13-2011

Hello, I have the game running fine however in open fields I drop to about 70% and was wondering if there were one or two things I could do to get my numbers at mostly 100%.

P.S. I'm running fine just wondered if I could get a quick suggestion on the graphics menu. I would but I get scared I'll mess it up. Big Grin

Zelda the Wind Maker - Dolphin454 - 02-14-2011

You could right-click on the game and hit properties and activate the dual - core and idle skipping. You can also enable performance hack for MMU in the properties for the game.

If you go to the graphics settings you can activate OpenCL if your graphics card supports it for a better speedrun. We recommend that you have some more Ram to your PC upgrade to 4GB. Remember also download the latest version of Dolphin http://www.emucr.com/ here.

These are enabled by default.

That will decrease performance in games where MMU emulation isn't needed (like this one).

Dolphin does not need more than 1GB of ram, period. Nearly all games do not exceed 400MB of ram usage under any circumstance. This means even with vista/7 2GB of ram is easily sufficient for dolphin alone.

That will not improve performance. It simply decodes textures on the gpu using opencl texture decoders. This can reduce stuttering in a few games but ever since the sse2/sse3 texture decoders were implemented it actually decodes textures slower than the cpu based C texture decoder (with the exception of 400/500 series nvidia cards).

@bwinkler
Turn off emulate format changes, set efb copy to texture, turn off audio throttle, turn on use fps for limiting, and set the framelimiter to 30. If that doesn't work then please post your settings.

RE: Wind Waker - silveruniverse - 02-14-2011

I'm standing in the center of the Forsaken Fortress with 70% speed, in the middle of the ocean is almost always 100%

- Disable EFB Copy
- Enable EFB Scaled Copy (so the water looks nice, disable otherwise)
- AnitSotropic/Anti-Alias minimum

my screen res is always 1264x720 windowed (fits the screen better, lower for more fps)

RE: Wind Waker - NaturalViolence - 02-14-2011

Your system is a lot weaker than his. He doesn't need to disable efb copy.
