Ati 4350? - emailnetload - 02-11-2011 hey guys.... 2 days ago i downloaded one of the new dolphin versions.... i was really happy to notify that a lot of games run more stable and for me more important more fast. till yet i was runnig dolphin on my workstation......a intel core 2 quad 8400 at 3,5 ghz, gtx 460 and 8 gb ram. my plan was to get it run on my mediaportal living room pc. a intel core 2 duo 6750 4 gb ram and an ati 4350 first i was happy cause even on this pc the games seemed to run..... but then i tried to play fzero......and now it comes.....the game starts up really fast.....after 5 to 15 sec of playing it suddently stucks. this doesnt happen on my workstation..... i noticed it getting a lil better if i reduce the resolution and changing from directx 9 to opengl....but nothing keeps it from freezing at some point. and heres my question.... does dolphin need a powerfull graphic card. till ow i allways thought the cpu is the main point. if yes.....would an ati 5450 be powerfull enough? taking an ati board is very important for me.....cause of mpeg and hd tv.....and cause its passiv cooled. Edit: btw i was reading other post on the 4350......but what i am confsed abot is that it runs really good....till the whole emulator stucks thx andreas RE: Ati 4350? - NaturalViolence - 02-11-2011 Quote:and heres my question.... does dolphin need a powerfull graphic card. till ow i allways thought the cpu is the main point. CPU is considering more important but it does require a decent modern video card. Quote:if yes.....would an ati 5450 be powerfull enough? For some games yes. For most, no. RE: Ati 4350? - emailnetload - 02-11-2011 thx for the answer. but what i still dont get: most games run on the 4350......its only fzero thats making dolphin freeze....... best exampple: big air is running damn fine in an earlier setup of my htpc i ws using win xp32 and tries dolphin 2 stable.....fzero was running fine on this setup....therefore a lot of games didnt run at all RE: Ati 4350? - NaturalViolence - 02-12-2011 What do you mean by "freeze" exactly? Having an insufficient gpu would simply lower your framerate/gamespeed, it shouldn't cause any really nasty problems like lockups. RE: Ati 4350? - emailnetload - 02-27-2011 ayayay......completely forgott to check this thread..... too many other problems...lol well.....with freeze i mean......do u know what happens when ur cpu overheats......the pic completely stucks and u hear audio loops......dont know how to exactly describe it. i had such behavior on very high overclocked machines. but like i wrote above....its only dolphin that stucks.....i can still exit the program |
