Would that be all I need in order to get full wiimote control? What about an IR sensor for the wiimote's pointer?

You can use any device that emits infrared light to get the wiimote pointer.
There are also battery powered wireless sensor bars on the market,
or you can even easily mod them to work with power from your computer's USB port.

What about the ones sold at Best Buy, like the Nyko wireless sensor bar or the Intec one? Any modding necesarry or do you just position it and it works?

Please Skip on that one, I had and quicky returned it! I just picked up the the wireless Nintendo Wii sensor bar (licensed by nintendo) at Wal-Mart for $15 and works great!!

I'm in the same situation, looking to buy a bluetooth dongle. I'm stuck between these two, any ideas on which one to get? I'm leaning toward iogear because it's 3 dollars cheaper and very well reviewed on amazon.

Well I picked up the following items today:
RocketFish Bluetooth 2.1 Adapter #RF-FLBTAD ($25)
RocketFish Wii Wireless Slim Sensor Bar ($15)
Intec WavePlus & Controller Combo ($45)
It all works like a charm! There was really nothing to do to set everything up!

Also, why does the MotionPlus not get detected more often than not in Wii Sports Resort?
Is ths a known issue?
Should I exchange the Intec combo for an official Nintendo Wiimote Plus and nunchuck?

I would for sure. Third party controllers are almost never as good as genuine. At least thats what I've seen from my experiences.
