IMO, r6837 is the most stable. - belomeclone - 01-21-2011

Everything past it has been too experimental and brought on various slowdowns. If you are looking for the best Dolphin Experience, I think r6837 is the one to go for. But whenever it gets all experimental, that means even better improvements are around the corner!!

Of course, I still have r3404 lying around because it's the only one that will open Punch-Out, even though I've already beat it on my actual Wii Tongue ah the joys of testing games.

I'd like to try mamario's 6888 when the compiling gets fixed, but I tried Xtreme2damax's 6888, disabled the VBeam Speed Hack, and my game (ToSBig GrinotNW) went from a low point of 40 fps to a consistant low point of 11 fps, with a high point occasionally of 99 or some number way past 60. It went from very smooth with issues with keeping up with the sound in videos, to awful. So I made this topic. I may not have been exploring this Rev enough, but my results are the total opposite of others.

.. in other words: he most likely misconfigured the DX9 plugin ..

Well, what would I need to change? I didn't change anything when moving from revision. And the dots aren't necessary.

Edit: Now that Mamario's builds work again, his newest revision (r6892) works much differently from the other one I had been using. I'd single that out as the issue, not Directx9 configurations.

An option called "Emulate format changes" has been introduced recently and it's enabled by default in DX9. You most likely have that one enabled. Or... well, some other option which slows down stuff, like pixel lighting or pixel depth.

EDIT: Erm, so wait. Is it fixed for you after updating or what?

RE: IMO, r6837 is the most stable. - sixor - 01-23-2011

yes you are right, emulate format is the blame for mariokart full slowdown dx9, i disabled it and now constant 60fps with 2x+4xaa, pixel light, depth, trilineal,

cool thanks
