Building An i7 Rig - Nintendo64 - 01-08-2011 I'm currently looking for parts for building an i7 rig, and here are the parts I was thinking of: CPU: i7 2600K - $317 Edit - MOBO: Asus Maximus Extreme IV - $295 GPU: Ati Radeon HD 6950 - $309 COOLER: CORSAIR CWCH50 - $79 Edit -RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB - $109 Edit -POWER SUPPLY: Rosewill BRONZE Series RBR1000-M 1000W - $129 Edit -CASE: COOLER MASTER HAF 932 - $139 I don't need to buy a harddrive or a cd drive, I'll just use the 1TB drive from my dual-core athlon. RE: Building An i7 Rig - Bart1975 - 01-08-2011 Did you have a question? RE: Building An i7 Rig - NaturalViolence - 01-08-2011 Case: Take a look at antec and cooler master cases Power supply: 600 watts or higher, get a modular unit, and make sure it's from a reputable brand (antec, corsair, ocz, enermax, just to name a few). RE: Building An i7 Rig - badassjoe - 01-08-2011 cooler master scout is the best, check out newegg, the have combo deals with the setup you already have, is like 10-20% cheaper than buying separated, I have something like this and I can run everygame, dolphin, black ops at full speed and max seetings. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.563968 RE: Building An i7 Rig - emu-muncher - 01-08-2011 I have that coolermaster scout case, I like it better than the antecs. The antec 300 was noisy as fook. RE: Building An i7 Rig - Brente - 01-08-2011 Powersuppy: Make sure its 80+ (Bronze or even Gold). 600Watt is to small. Id recommend 700 minimum. You should also watch for a brand with good warranty. Coolermaster has 5 years I think. RE: Building An i7 Rig - tuanming - 01-08-2011 Look for 80 PLUS when buying PSU (power supply). I like Corsair brand and their modular design. RE: Building An i7 Rig - lamedude - 01-08-2011 Can't wait until tomorrow for Sandy Bridge? I might wait about a week or two, so I might reconsider and go with the i7 2600K. On a side note: Is the new sandy bridge much better than the current 1366? it only supports dual channel memory instead of triple channel memory. |
