Laptop specs - joseluki - 01-03-2011
Hi people I bought an hp laptop i3 2.4 ghz 4 gb ddr3 ram and an ati hd movility 5470 with 512 mb ddr3 ram.
I know with this specs im not going to run the more exignt wii games.
I´m in time to change the laptop, for another of the same series with the same specs but an ati 5650 with 1gb ddr3 ram, but the processor i an i3 2.24.
Any advice?

Core i5 460M tubbo boost to 2.8Ghz + Ati 5470 can run SMG (which is the most demanding game) near fullspeed,even i5 450m could do

Ok, but in smg for example never use more than 60% of the processor power when I play in my computer, and don´t run well.
I was thinking in a 1gb graphic card at least for make more stable game cube games, should it works? At least for run gc games at fulspeed.
I know with my specs it´s near imposible, but 1gb ram graphic card doesnt´change anything?
And the man of the video ou show me has an GeForce 330M with 1gb ram

The amount of video ram doesn't matter. Shader throughput it what matters. Even at 1080p most games don't need more than 256MB of vdram with dolphin.
And since dolphin only uses 2 threads 60% usage is completely normal for your cpu.

Emulation main focus on CPU , believe me or not i3 2.24Ghz and i3 2.4Ghz are hell slow .Dolphin emu can reach fullspeed most games on i3/i5/i7 3Ghz
GPU is also important but for resolution ,anti alias (AA) ....
Ati 5470 1024x768 no AA
Nvidia 330M 1366x768 AA 4x

Ok I get.
I know i3 it is a slow compared to i5 and i7, and hardly will run wii games like smg, for now i only run at full speed new smb and at 640x480 with minimun config.
And for example,not all gc games run at fullspeed and I also have the minimun config.Others run pretty well like super mario sunhine, crazy taxi, and super smash bros.
You say that with the card with 1 gb i will not notice any better improvement at least playing gc games?
Will support dolphin more than 2 threads?
The change 2.4 for 2.24 will suppose worst execution of dolphin?

Yes dolphin will run a little bit slower with the lower clock rate.

Having a better GPU will make a difference with higher settings. But having more video memory will not. Do not judge the quality of a gpu based on how much video ram it has.
