it has its downsides
SSD is after all a flash drive using flash memory
meaning they could brake after maybe a few million writes

ya...It was basically a joke..
With the advancement and time, I am sure SSD's will dominate as primary Mass storage device..It will take time. With this advancement, SSD will become financially feasible also.

how many years has it been that flash memory is in use now?
how much time has there been research for flash memory that doesn't break after those x million writes?
ye i rest my case

Flash memory is like a kid...The top priority about the Flash memory is to increase their size...And a million writes is too much...for its usage.
When u will write it for a millionth time, Your neighbour would already be using 1 TB SSD...or maybe even better...

Do you know the prize for 1TB SSD.It's 2200USD ,such a waste
I bought 1TB Apacer External HDD(connect PC via USB) only 220USD

no. i dont think you know how much an OS writes to a drive.
ram swapping, patches, settings, cache , etc etc etc

Maybe million times a day or week... I WANNA HAVE IT YOU KNOW :O!!

I am talking bout flash, not SSD...
And I am sure that SSD will be more suitable for our class in near future with being financially in reach...One day..maybe..
But even now, we can't confirm the end of HDD yet...It will easily take a couple of years to make HDD on history pages...

SSD's have flash memory like flash drives and such XD
thats what is making them so fast
(also, another downside is that flash memory can get erased after a few years of not getting electricity, but thats so minor nobody cares )
