Err..no

Im sure all games will reach full fps during certain points in the game, the point is, no CPU currently available is fast enough to give you 100% speed 100% of the time...as Dolphin currently stands.

Theres not much point if you get 60fps on the title screen, for then to have the fps jump up and down whilst your playing through the game...which is what happens in all Dolphin emulated games...

Anyone who says they are getting 100% speed 100% of the time is just another internet forum liar trying to show his big e-peen.
Just give any game name and I will fraps or screenshot you the proof that it will run 99-100% all the time in-game, not title screen. You are simply wrong and your claims have no basis. Correctly configured 64 bit dolphin will run every game non-stop on full frames per second without lag.

With the exception of a few bugs mentioned earlier (hyrule field, sound bugs in smg2) emulation is practically flawless in most games.

This is most certainly false.
haha guys... imho there's no game which will run at fullspeed all the time with the right quality options. Dolphin is an Emulator and that word says all what's left to say. There's still enough headroom for improvement in the algorythm left. Even if a game run's at 60fps all the time with a drop to 58fps, you can see that Dolphin reached it's limits. Of course you could shoot sparrows with machineguns, but it's not worth to buy a PhaseChange Unit and Overclock your CPU to insane 5-GHz just to run an Emulator in "beta" stage.

Right now I would just recommend a fast Intel C2D at about 3-GHz and a cheap preowned GTX260/4870, the more time will pass bye the more playable the emu will get. And if not, bad luck, wait until the hardware is getting cheaper...

False. Fps drops even on consoles on which the games are intended to be played on.

Quote:Massive FPS drop on PS3 in towns
While in towns at day (when people are sneaking around) I notice massive FPS drop. Not that it interrupts playing, but it's very uncomfortable and annoying. While riding outside the town it's very smooth.

So far I've noticed it on Ranch and Armadillo.
Bigger cities = bigger lags?

RE: Massive FPS drop on PS3 in towns
I have experienced this only twice. The first time it happened, I was in Nekoti Rock. The fps dropped down to about 1fps and my screen turned black, and my game automatically quit to the XMB. The other time happened today in Thieve's Landing, and it wasn't anywhere near as bad as the first time and it quickly passed.

Quote:I have it for the 360 full 1080p HD and have noticed the frame rate drops when in towns (more so in the day time when the sun is out) it can be really annoying and just takes away the realism for me and sort of ruins the general beautiful setting.

But like others have said it is absolutely fine when out in the wilderness.

Also gets quite bad in big gun fights

If a game is meant to run at 60fps, it's the amount the graphics engine strives to render. It doesn't mean you'll be getting it all the time. A current gen console is nothing but a computer in a different casing than your home PC and it uses custom cpu/gpu from ati, nvidia, intel or IBM.

FPS ranges between 50 and 60 even on the real wii (25-30 on games where 30 is the intended speed). You can use a high precision video signal hook or a simple recorder to check this. There is no game in existence that runs at it's intended maximum framerate all the time. Even God of War 3 during heavy cutscenes drops from 60 fps to 25-30fps (50% decrease).

Wii games however are usually graphically so light that when emulated on a computer, they will constantly stay at 98-100% on a proper build.

That is such a pile of horseshit......

You need to learn the difference between internal GC speed, and what your Pc is getting in fps....

If a Gamecube game originally ran at an inconsistent frame rate on the original hardware then this is replicated by the emulator...its when the emulator runs at inconsistent frame rates at points the original hardware didnt, that is the issue....and my point stands, there is no CPU available today that can run Dolphin 100% correct frame rate, 100% of the time...

1. It's not necessarily replicated by emulator, since the hardware has zero in common with the PPC and custom weak gpu found in a gamecube

2. The original hardware can't even render the disk image graphics into higher than 480p; dolphin can render practically limitlessly high resolution such as 1920x1080 and above, and it can even speed up games to 200-300% faster than on the original hardware if audio throttle and framelimiter are left off, which is simply not possible on the hardware of the gamecube. You can even enable a 16x anisotrophic filter and anti-aliasing. Dolphin has much more system resources available from a modern gpu and a processor than the original console has for running games.

3. You didn't say anything about 100% correct frame rate all the time (which nobody cares about as long as game is playable at full speed) you said

bagpuss Wrote:There isnt a fast enough CPU out there, Intel or AMD, that will give full speed in all games....

Which is false. There are cpu's that will, when used with correctly configured dolphin, yield the maximum fps available for that game throughout the play, not just the menu. Dolphin is not "very buggy" at all for many games, and for practical purposes literally every game will run at full fps on high end pc.

I don't know why I'm wasting time with this troll though, since there are now thousands of videos available for proof on sites like youtube, with people playing even new games at 60 fps and full speed on dolphin constantly. There's really nothing that needs to be proven. If you want to be stubborn, do it. Just stop saying dolphin is slow because it's not.
lol....you do talk shit.

That's a really clever argument from a troll. Do say which part of it is shit.

Even better, set up a webcam link or remote desktop view. I'll show you any game (that I have) running at full speed (30/60fps depending on game). http://www.netviewer.com/en

Dolphin is not slow, unless you use a slow rig, period. All the arguments were presented already. I don't know what more to tell a stubborn person.
lol, ocean simply ignore him. if he doesn't want to understand, then leave it. Tongue
of course the phenom II 550 won't give full fps ALL the time, but 80% of the time it will. heck, EVEN MY cpu(in signature, it's shitty lame) can run ALL the games i have above 75% speed, except sonic and the black knight(50% speed locked Tongue slow rig). and in some games, as mentioned by ocean, i can get above 100% speed in 720p. it was a game and it played 140% speed. if you're interested on seeing it, watch my channel; videos. if my youtube dolphin vids, EVEN with fraps on aren't proof enough, then i don't know what is period
