I've got my Q6600 overclocked from 2.4 to 3.6. Runs NSMB Wii 1080 / 60p like nobody's business (thanks to vsync). Always stays below 55 C. Validation in sig

CAN it really help..

In subtropical climate it can make things worse than having the chassis open, since heat problem will be compounded by surrounding hot air. In closed circulation with proper ventilation, surrounding air will be more efficient at cooling components.

I don't know enough people that use open chassis for operating a computer (only 1 person) so I googled it/searched on various forums, and the general consensus is that closed chassis brings down temperatures about 5-8c. I've tried both in standard semi-cold climate and didn't notice much differences, closed results in slightly lower temps.

Dust buildup is also problematic with open case system, to avoid hw damage you would have to use air purifier or very well ventilated room.. Chassis also protects mobo circuitry from static electricity
So, its better not to mess with my PC right now...
But then I have to play at 640x480.......Sad
Waiting for winter...so my 47 C processor can cool down
Hey guys, you think i should overclock my cpu? i don't mind you recommending it to me, as i won't blame you if i fry anything in the process Tongue. room temperature is about 25C.
my cpu is about 40-45C. I have an aftermarket Spireâ„¢ air cooler. so, should i go for it with no case fan?

Go for Watercooling , Corsair makes one CPU cooler for 80$ , that should do it .

Man, I am from India.., even fans are not available for PC....
I was lucky enough to get 2 stock case coolers...

By the way, I have a water cooler for my room though......LOL
(We don't use AC)
OMG LOL , then you re screwed ! i got Noctua for air cooling ,helps my q6600 cold @ stock @ 7-10°C and Oced @ 3.6Ghz @ 30°C.

PS , I live in a very Hot place too .

awesome, altho i have aftermarket cooling, stated earlier, my temps are 40-50C, that's why i'm afraid of OC'ing Sad
1.- Try to disable the "Automatic Fan Control" (if u have it) in the BIOS for get ur fan working at 100%(Speed). Becareful, choose the right option.

2.- Install extra fans in the chassis pointing to the CPU heatsink/cooler. Its easy, u only needs some basic tools(drill, etc) and your brain.

And about the temps, u need to check the CORE (Dual 2, quad 4,etc) temps too. Its very important .

Good luck.

Yes, i've checked and they're similar...
I'll take a look at the BIOS. :/
or i should ask someone better with these stuff. I've never been in MY BIOS except when i changed mode to CD boot to install windows Tongue
My mom wouldn't let me do more. She sais i'm still a kid and i might screw up. *sigh*
