Then why would you tell me your getting to 4.2 on stock if you know it's not anywhere near a stable oc? Why would you use that as evidence? No one should ever OC on stock cooling, period. You should not let your full load temp exceed 65 C or your going to have serious life span problems. My full load temps are 49-52 C prime95 stable with no voltage increase, gotta love the Q6600.

Their is a difference between a safe and unsafe overclock. Many cpus can now operate at those frequencies with no increase in voltage and will have very little reduction in life span if they are kept cool. So the only major side effect is your system will run a bit faster, so why not do it? Overclocking has a lot of real world practicality, in many circumstances it just makes sense. Such as mine for example, as a hardcore gamer I have to stay relatively up to date with hardware. OCing allows me to keep my cpu for much longer before upgrading without having the inevitable drop in performance that happens after a few years as games begin to catch up.

I think your misinterpreting this. When I say thuban OCes to 4.0-4.6 on air what I'm talking about is a permanent stable OC with little to no increase in voltage and acceptable temps. Same goes for any other cpu architecture. When I talk about overclocking I'm not talking about how far people can push a chip, that's useless, I'm talking about how far most OCers are going. For example my chip can go to 4.2GHz no problem, but it will not be prime 95 stable, temps will be way to high, and it will require a large increase in voltage. So I tell people the Q6600 goes to 3.2-3.6 because that's how far most OCers go with it. 99% of overclockers are not the insane push-it-to-the-limit people, we do it in a practical way for practical reasons.
The Phenom II x6, I don't know if many games can utilize all 6 cores, but newer games will, older games may only use 4 cores, but then that gives you 2 cores for video capturing if needed/wanted, this thing is Futureproof, I am waiting to upgrade though, I am waiting for a 12 core desktop so I can get a pricepoint.

99% of all new games released still only use 2 cores. The only commerical pc game that I know of that uses 4 cores is battlefield: bad company 2. Some rts games use 3 cores but their are very few of them.

Thats true, but Unreal Tournament 3 uses 4 cores, add in antivirus(which usually tries to run on it's own core to minimize CPU impact), that would be 5 cores to operate well. and one can easily overclock an AMD to 4.0ghz, sometimes on factory cooling, but will an Intel go to 4.0ghz on cooling other that a $200 heatsink or a liquid cooled rig? The answer is NO, it will overheat on you before it makes 4.0ghz.

And it is a matter of preference, they are both equivalent(Intel 4 vs AMD x4) as most games don't make use of Hyperthreading. Although a Radeon usually outperforms a Nvidia if they are of equal pricing.

Intel is more money, but AMD isn't as old, Take your pick, but It will completely affect your build, your MOBO will change, and Intel boards are generally more than AMD ones.

Right now, AMD Thuban is the best processor around...Wish I could get one...

AM3 socket is now common among market while i7's not...

Not all of them have the required bios update from the manufacturer and I hear some malfunctioning regarding beta bios on some boards.

You can easily OC any core architecture too, though it's not as "easy" or cheap as it sound as if you have crap heatsink, case, ram, PSU or motherboard (any one of them) you can only dream to achieve 4ghz.

It's not as simple as ticking some option on bios, worst case would be your chip dying because of overheating/overvoltage without you noticing.

So, overall AMD Phenom II X6 1090T is your choice...
Once and for all...

You can get i7 920/930 roughly the same price as 1090T this including the whole system for both. Just be smart on picking your component (hint: dual channel is more than enough for i7).

Check your fact, basing it off only from one site isn't wise (and you seem to don't even bother researching core ix or even READ past post in THIS thread).
