Why does Super Mario Galaxy (and other games) display 30 FPS, 60 VPS, and 100% speed, but the game is quite slow?

Here is my hardware:

Intel C2D E8400 @ 4.0 GHz
8 GB RAM
Win7 x64
GTX 285

Running latest SVN compiled with x64 (r5382).

FPS and VPS are not synced in Dual Core mode, so look at FPS meter for speed you are getting

Are you saying to use a third party FPS monitor like FRAPS?

Also, what's the difference between FPS and VPS?
