A graphics card which doesn't support OpenGL? Somebody still has an Atari or what? LOL. Sorry but any card on the market made since I don't know W9x or older can do OpenGL. What he might be missing is OpenGL 2.1 or something like that. Definitely update first your graphic card and then try again. Don't bother with DirectX update. Depending on your OS this is futile. Besides the DirectX plugin works worse than the OpenGL one. If you can't get OpenGL to work with the updated drivers you are out of luck as chances are very slim the DirectX one is going to work since it is way more zealous in the hardware/software it requires.
I don't know what you're talking about,A medium-strong gfx card can run openGl fine(Nvidia 7xxx,8xxx,9xxx,200 series,400 series or ATi 3xxx,4xxx,5xxx),Intel GMA or Intel HD no(only with dx9 and slow).
dx9 is the only choice right now.
DX9 is a whole lot better than opengl. if opengl don't work, stick to dx9. as you descibed it, it seemed to me like the directx9 of revision 18xx dinosaur. i can do both OGL and DX9 but i use DX9 since it's 10x better lol
With me it's the other way round. OpenGL runs a lot better. Furthermore the DirectX plugin tends to crash where the OpenGL one does not.

It seems you haven't been active on the forum in a long time, you've got some catching up to do sir.
yeah, maybe he's way back in time.....
Sorry to disappoint you guys but this is with the very latest revision. Tried this with various games I've got here for testing the emulator. And so far the result is clear: OpenGL rocks, DirectX sucks. OpenGL gives rather good graphic results while the DirectX one tends to crank things up. Biggest problems are spurious crashes which happen when the DirectX plugin is used. Posted some of that stuff here I think but I can't remember anymore where. So some games I only got working with OpenGL so far.
OpenGL is graphically much inferior to the directx9 plugin, must be just revision specific, as dx9 has resulted in stable gameplay and very high quality graphics since at least 500-700 revisions ago. Before that, opengl was viable, but for most people there is no reason to use it over dx9. In many games Opengl will cause pixelation and artifacts not present with dx9 plugin
