Ask some of the experts who made homebrew for the Wii on gbatemp.net. Ask people like Waninkoko or WiiGator who have made several loaders to use on the wii for gamecube backups and wii backups as well as backups stored on either a usb device or sd card.
Other people worth looking up are bushing and the makers of the HBC.
From my experience gbatemp is full of fail, and waninkoko and his loaders are a subject best not talked about here
But, still, to study a feature, seeing how it behaves on the hardware is a good thing to do, so you know it must behave the same on the emulator.
