also put frameskip to 1.
CLOSE any hog like firefox. it's a tough process and slows down emulation

I think you misunderstood him, he is right that Dolphin itself doesn't use more than two cores (except for the LLE plugin that can be ran on a different core but is unstable), so essentially a quad core processor is useless for Dolphin. However with the i5 processor being a newer architecture it will probably be faster with Dolphin in dual core mode than the other PC.

When compared to an equally powered or more powerful dual core machine, a quad core processor is essentially useless for Dolphin but useful for other applications.
i got it working. just by closing almost everything on my pc.... i would have thought my pc was more powerful than a WII, but i guess not!!

its time for a upgrade anywayz!
does your core i5 have hyperthreading?
if yes: DISABLE IT!
