I was wondering before using dolphin do I need to own a wii ? I own a whole bunch of games, thanks to my local shops excellent prices. Though do I need to own a wii ?
no, you need a wii only if you want to use the system menu ( you need to dump it from somewhere ) or the DSP-LLE plugin ( It requires two files that need to be dumped from a GC or a wii )

well, you need a wii/funky lg dvd drive to get the games....
Well you don't need it, but it makes sense to have the actual hardware to fall back on when emulation just doesn't work quite right due to compatibility issues, performance issues, sound issues and other bugs which may hinder some games and prevent them from being played as they were intended.
Also as mentioned above, if you want to use the system menu or DSP-LLE plugin, you are required to dump the files from your Wii.
