4 Giga is just to guarantee that Dolphin will be able to absorb 1 Giga of Ram i don't think you need more.

This user runs i7 at 4 GHZ Thought 3.6 or 3.4 is enough in my opinion , he runs dolphin so well as i have seen.

don't know about the Triple channel never read about it. i am still planing to buy an i7 just not yet soon (after 3 month) :/
