I've kind of looked around for any articles on this but I haven't found much on the subject.

I'm running Windows Vista x64 with 955 AMD quadcore processor and 4 gigs of ram and 512mb Radeon 4980 VC.

My ordeal is whenever I run an iso on Dolphin I have a problem with my ram being used generally at 90-97%. Basically Dolphin starts at around little to nothing for ram but the moment I load an ISO it will increase the ram useage at around 100-200mb per second until it maxes out at around 3.2- 3.8 gig. Eventually Dolphin will slow down and it will shutdown the program. I know I could up the virtual memory but it takes no more than 4-5 minutes to reach maximum capacity on my ram.

I assume (and im no expert just a noobish opinion) that for whatever reason the graphics are eating up my ram or dolphin eats up a lot of ram to read the iso or load specific areas. (tends to drag when loading new things.)

Is there anyway to run Dolphin a bit more efficiently? oh yes and I'm running Dolphin version 4771.
whoa..thats a rare cases (if im the only one who dont know), r u sure its the ram not the cpu? anyway, post a screenshot to give better understanding.

ps: ive test the rev 51xx and it use 30% of yours memory
I doubt he thinks cpu if he says that it rises 100-200mb per second.

Check your page file settings.
I know a good solution for this, I had this problem too :p.

You've got to download a program called Cacheman.
Then there's aoption to let cacheman handle that RAM thingy..
Sorry English is bad atm...

I hope this helps Big Grin!
That is definitely not normal. Dolphin should be using no where near that much memory. I would advise updating to a newer build since they have fixed A LOT of memory leaks in the past few months.
The only time that happened to me was when a Dolphin process remained active after not properly shutting it down. It would quickly build up to 4 GB RAM usage (I have 6GB), and it almost froze my entire computer when I left it running like that.

Upgrade to six gigs of ram, and when that fails get a more recent revision before we start charging you for it.

Agree , and even if the devs have fixed some mem leaks, those were tiny memory leaks ( EDIT: except for the 4200 rev fail , the massive memory leak at startup that appeared if you had a game in the gamelist )

@runako: what is your GPU drivers version ?
