No we are not asking him to close down his site, what we are asking though is he ceases mimicking the official site and forums that are located here unless he has explicit permission from the project leaders.
The dolphin-emulator name, logo and forum are all very similar to the official dolphin-emu.com name, logo and forums.
This is all that is being asked of him is to change these things, not shut down his entire site or stop providing builds. Everyone is still able to provide builds, just that I urge ector to reconsider allowing external sites that are not explicitly related to the official project site and forum from being advertised on the official forums.
Personal site links are to be kept in signatures, if members want to provide builds either attach the file as an attachment or upload to a file sharing service. Links to personal sites should be kept out of posts and threads as it's construed as unsolicited advertising. These forums are not an advertising platform for members to advertise their sites regardless of whether or not they are providing a useful service for others to take advantage of.
Maybe you're not asking him to close it down, but others are.

Don't waste your words xtreme, with excessive repetition your words will decrease in value.
Starscream is simply trying to form a mob out of us.
Just seems that some people aren't reading, so I reposted what I originally said albeit worded slightly different. I ask StarScream to at least retain a bit of decency on the matter instead of trying to poke mamario with a pitchfork and burn him alive on a stake akin the the old days of witching.
I have already informed ector, we just need to wait for him to review the situation and handle it if he feels there is anything that needs to be done.

yeah I don't want him to shut down, I just want him to acknowledge that every piece of information comes from users within this forum and if he really wants to help dolphin (not the nubs) he should've stated it very clearly in his front page, I didn't give a shit about his site before but in my mind was always this thought "whats next? is he gonna open a forum or what? nah.. he wouldn't be that sleazy"
I don't wanna imply that his site is going to get more users than dolphin now, in fact the only reason he as any audience Per se is because of this forum.
we should take this as a lesson and start working in this place more (that specially goes for the mods and admins) to help people and compile the most information we can about the games, not that it wouldn't be stolen by mamario but this place would still be recognized as the only place where you can actually talk to the developers of dolphin about the issues.
also forums for different languages should be added if not having them would be deter users from staying and contributing.
Meeting of the minds really needs to take place soon and hopefully a mod/dev/admin will post a complete statement once all this is settled out.
For now, I personally see a member who has contributed nicely with the the continual builds, make a site, eventually copy over much information from this forum, make a forum that is looking identical (yes its default but its still identical) and now pops in a greyed out Dolphin icon on the pages. Its like a slow melancholy take over. Add to that, that his site from a outside point of view is better organized in my opinion then the official and can easily confuse a first time dolphin player to thinking its the official site. Was that the intend of Mamario? I would say no but I stated a while back this should be discussed before things reached a tipping point. Now we have reached the tipping point in many members mind. This could easily have been avoided but who knows what is being said behind close doors.
His site is unofficial and has yet to point back to this official forum or site or at the very least throw some respect in this general direction. Not like we (community) really deserve it in that respect but it just seems like it would be the right thing to do to allow a link or something to the official website. Even if it would be stated somewhere that it was the unofficial site would be beneficial. I completely agree to what xtremes statement. Only time will tell but seeing that no mod, admin, or developer has stated anything here, I am very concerned of things to come. Mamario just added in a some more nice features such as Video of the day, and pictures. Personally I feel his site is very nice, professional appeasing to the eyes, and a good source of information. I just hope this gets resolved soon.
Mamario sent me a PM last week, in which he promoted his own website. It's really spam. I did not ask him for information on his website, forums or builds. Sure, I use his builds a lot, but I'm perfectly capable of finding them myself.
He really is trying to overtake dolphin-emu.com and become the "official" website in the eyes of the basic user. At least Zophar.net is still linking to the official dolphin-emu website.

I Think people are misunderstanding mamario.
This is what we in Brazil call a "Storm in a cup of water"
Let him do his site, he helps a lot and all the new builds i see have been made by him.
He is not hijacking anything, he is just working.

Some of the devs on IRC didn't seem to have a problem with his site, and if they do not have a problem with it, then there is no reason for me to have a problem with it and so I will not bother giving my opinion again as far as this topic goes.
I don't want to mention any names, but as I've already said, they didn't have a problem with the site and actually liked the site. Having said that, that does not mean some other devs will see it the same way, so, I don't know.
Well not the devs, but ector and Chaoscode have expressed some fairly strong opinions in the past that led with domains being surrendered and such.
I too am out of this discussion now, I've said all there is to say and I'll just leave it to ector or Chaoscode to decide what is best according to their opinion.
Sorry if I offended anyone, it was never my intention to offend anyone or make anyone feel uncomfortable.
