WOW mamario WOW. Took things to a WTF moment. Ok he is perfectly in his right to make a forum but um it doesn't have to look EXACTLY like the official forum (exeption of the dolphin emblem). I knew something dumb like this would happen. Infact I think I said something about problems eventually coming months ago when this thread first started. OH man.. I wonder what ector, and chaoscode, etc think about this. Crazy stuff.
I'm gonna see things get WAY worst before they get better unless someone at top has a meeting of the minds lol.
From what I understand the dolphin team doesn't take too kindly to this. I'm not sure how many remember the supposed dolphin shop, they were basically forced to hand over their domain and any rights to the domain and content that resided on the domain. I don't see any reason for them to let this slide and more than the last. If you want to make a site and forum that's fine, just don't impersonate another site, ride off the name of another site or project and deliberately attempt to mislead anyone.
Wasn't Mamario the one who tried to pass that dolphin-emulator site off as the official site on Wikipedia?
I should stress again that my concerns aren't with just the mamario site, basically the same applies for everyone who is providing builds and redirecting members to external sites. I've been guilty of the same thing in the past I'll admit which is why I've eased up on my builds, but I am just as concerned and agree with the concerns that have been expressed thus far. I see no problems with providing updated builds as attachments on the forum, I would actually welcome that.
It should have been limited to just one person providing updated builds from the getgo (preferably the dolphin team themselves), less chance for something to go awry and things could be regulated easier. As I mentioned in the past I don't mind if anyone provides unofficial builds, but they should be used as a redirector to advertise another site.

Nah , I think that the ones that put the site in the wikipedia page were just a bunch of noob that tough that the mamario's site was the original site

I would do that or use popular hosts sites like megaupload, rapidshare or even skydrive, those pages can only provide builds, nothing else like additional information or forums

Then why not just copy the mamario's automatic compilation service?
I think that the biggest factor that contributed to mamario's success was the death of the Orleans unofficial builds, They where everywhere and he compiled his builds 2~3 times in a day , so when He stopped uploading his builds people needed another easy way to obtain updated builds. Then mamario's site came out..

The official forums shouldn't be used to advertise builds that redirect to external unrelated sites, these forums are not an advertising platform and shouldn't be used as such. Keep personal links to signatures where they belong, and upload all builds as attachments instead redirecting everyone to another site to download if anyone wishes to advertise their builds here. Anyone is free to host builds elsewhere, just not freely advertise them in posts or threads and link other members to their site in order to download.

Not true, there have been other non-commercial sites that have suffered the same fate, however most here are unaware of that. It has already been expressed that use of the dolphin logo and likenesses of dolphin are not to be used without explicit permission or approval of the the project leaders, I don't think they'll allow it even if asked.

I agree with James here, Orleans was a major contributor to mamario's success. With the addition of a few other smaller names that eventually stopped contributing altogether.
I think i heard talk about Unknownforce in jail or something.

why would i? i didn't even look at the thread in here and didn't copy, paste anything...i'm being honest, and honestly, the only reason i went there was to see if anything new was there, but practiacally just different languages. and that was all i wrote there. if you want, i can even change the title of the thread so no one will say i ''stole'' or copied anything.and this is still the main forum, and if you would take a look at the thread, i still put links to the official site to download revisions, as i support them myself. I didn't go there to get glory or anything like that

Well, there's alot to take in on this thread but I agree with most of what Xtreme2damax says but specially that quote.
I wouldn't have made my original comment if only mamario had disclosed on his main page that he is just a normal compiler just like everybody else and that he gets his information from here, and a link to the forum and the main page would've been nice, not sure if he has done so or if his site remains unchanged.
On a side note: I appreciated more the people that took the trouble of compiling each single build and uploading it manually than a robot compiler that is almost 100% absent from the forum except from updating his thread, Thats just me.

and to tell the truth the only builds i use are from WhiteZero(yes, ancient) and Xtreme2Damax.
