Great work, pals. But how I transform the ones that you made in .ico to actually use them?

You can use a free program called GIMP to save .ico files.

I made mario's outline a little thicker in this one. I think it looks better.
Second one here with less intense highlight effect.
Third one changed some more stuff. Fourth one has outline thing reversed.
Also uploaded the svg.
These icons rule! you guys are good Smile
Sure gets some neat ideas into play, I like it Smile

Arc Sage: Dont worry, no offense taken. I was surprised myself it worked out that well.
I wouldn't stuff that image with GC/Wii since it looks a bit overloaded to me. Plus, you wont see/notice anything of that in smaller icon sizes.
Maybe stick to the guidelines Microsoft put up for Vista icons; I'm pretty sure it will also look good on OSX: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa511280.aspx

Billiard: I like the last two, they have the cut and show some depth.

For those who wanna give it a try on Windows and/or OSX, theres Axialis Icon Workshop for Windows which can work with both .ico and .icns (for Mac; both up to a resolution of 256x256) and Icon Composer for Mac OSX (part of Xcode, check Xcode/Applications/Utilities) which can also work with both .icns (up to 512x512) and .ico (up to 256x256).
For Windows replace Installer/Dolphin.ico, for OSX replace Source/Core/DolphinWX/resources/Dolphin.icns (or just replace it inside Dolphin.app/Contents/Resources) to see it in action.

Meh, that stupid Akismet thing bant me like 5 times for trying to link to Axialis

There is some really good material there! Eventually, I may read deeper into it.

But unfortunately, I do not have the time right now to create an entire icon collection for dolphin.
I would usually jump at the chance! But Work/School are taking up most of my free time nowadays... Smile

It's not like you have to meet a deadline or something, or that you have to make some new icons. No need to rush anything or apologize for lack of time.
Dolphin is open source and driven by the efforts of people who want to contribute.

Besides, we have bigger problems than icons ;)
