You make it sound as if the devs have been really working hard on this particular game recently, when in reality they have not intentionally done anything to fix this game in quite some time since it started working. I actually don't know how well this game plays on the current versions since I now have one particular build that I use just for this game. Until this project is more complete sometime down the road, if I happen to run across a build that plays a game very well, I hold on to that build.

I don't know if this has been touched on or not because I don't feel like reading 20 pages on this thread. As most of you know loading savestates often does not work, however, I have found a use for creating savestates in this game. During the frame rate slow downs that happen periodically throughout the game, making a savestate brings the game back to full speed for me immediately.

Even though I use the D3D plugin, I have noticed that the OpenGL plugin does not experience the slow down issue nearly as often as D3D plugin. But the OpenGL plugin causes graphical glitches in certain areas of the game (the keeper dimension and the room you collect the Tome of Eternal Darkness in with most characters). Making a savestate worked for me with both plugins to fix the slowdowns.

Just something I found and figured I would share to see if it helped anyone else.

My Specs:
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Dolphin SVN R6307 64bit
Direct3D 11 Plugin
DSP HLE Plugin
AMD Quad Core 3.4Ghz
8GB DDR3 1600
Nvidia GTX 280 1GB

Hey everyone!

I was wondering if someone knew what to do for a little problem of mine. I use Dolphin SVN rev. 6317, and the game plays more or less smoothly (no sound here and there, slowing down at points) but at the final fight it just crashes every time.

I have a Pentium IV quad-core 2.4 GHz processor - 2 GB RAM - Windows Vista Home Premium - all significant DirectX versions installed - GeForce 8600GT with ~1.7GB memory

Is there something I need to do?

EDIT: it gave a few errors and then threw an exception (see picture below).

I recommend r6164.(I use r6164 optimized by Lectrode.)
@Shade-Duelist In this version does not crash me.

Download here an optimized version. http://electrodexs.net/dolphin-emu/default.htm

Download here a normal version. http://www.dolphin-emu.org/download.html
Pentium 4 quad core? There is no such thing, Intel didn't even make dual core Pentium 4's (Hyper-threading is not really dual core) unless you count the failure that was the Pentium D.

Both normal and optimized builds can be found here as well:

http://www.xtemu.com/forum/files/category/25-dolphin-svn-builds/

You may want to download a build from the link above as they have been patched with a patch to fix the intro/prologue audio skipping issue and a patch to solve most if not all fifo overflown errors.

The game no longer crashes at the final boss in latest revisions. In other words it's fully completable now without any tweaks (the occasional no-sound glitch remains though). I just finished it using r6723 x64 with default settings, I only changed the graphic plugin to D3D11. Speed is good too, I get 50-60 fps most of the time at 1680x1050, some spots suffer from slowdowns, but nothing you can't deal with. Savestates don't work well with this game though, loading them tends to freeze the game. Just play it with the memcard like real men! Big Grin

Btw here's my specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66GHz
4GB 667MHz DDR2 RAM
Nvidia Geforce 9800GTX 512MB
I've been trying Eternal Darkness on couple of newer revisions, and it runs perfect (constant 60fps framerate and no sound problems) except graphical glitch with the inventory. When you open it, its all black, like there are missing images/textures. I tried messing with the graphics plugin, but no results.

I never tried ED before, so I dont know if this is a known bug or if it can be fixed.

Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.
Use a newer Dolphin version.

I have tried 10 newer ones, still no luck. But thanks anyway.
Works fine here. Post your PC specs, Dolphin build number and settings if you want further assistance.
