hi i know this is a big generalization..kind of comparing apples to oranges here.
but is there a way to implement a throttle control function that could boost the fps in the emulator?
i know one emulator that uses this type of thing and its vba. i know theres a HUGE difference between gbai
kind of a use at your own risk function i know but when combined with a frame limit function it could prove to make the emulator more available to people with lower end cpu/gpu.
it certainly couldnt be more harmfull than overclocking
and if you could develope a build that uses it id love to test it and blow my computer up
im new to dolphin so please dont flame me if i dont know what im talking about

please post something..i feel stupid already lol..i want feedback before i sleep

actualy im quite sure fps acceleration is due for implement because most games can run with the current build..i would really like to see this added
if a turbo/throttle whatever could be put in soon id be forever in debt!
And how would that turbo mode speed up dolphin?
idk but if it did have a throttle feature like virtual boy advance then maybe it could lead to speed improvements for games, just like it has done for vba
I know what you are talking about. Like in old GBA and GB emulators, you could set the speed of thread to 2x, 6x, 10x, etc.. And the game would be super fast (or you could make it super slow with 0.5x etc). It has nothing to do with frameskip which is a different feature.
Of course, Wii emulation takes an enormous amount of processing power compared to a gameboy emulator (of which you could run hundreds of copies at once if you wanted), so I'm not sure how well that would work with most people's computers which have outdated hardware.
Such a feature doesn't exist yet, but it's certainly possible; I get it as a bug sometimes in games (game speeds up to like 3x due to lag spike with cpu). If you could set it as a constant state, it could improve FPS for people who can't play certain games with proper framerate.
Well that's because PC hardware is far more powerful than the GB/GBA and what is required to run GB?GBA emulators so this is possible. With Gamecube/Wii emulation this isn't possible at the time, maybe in five or ten years it might be possible when PC hardware is much more powerful than the min requirements to run Dolphin.
Even the most powerful hardware now is enough just to achieve decent speed with some/most games.
That's because Dolphin is very buggy and incomplete. Buggy incomplete code needs more power behind it to run. You guys seem to be waiting for PC hardware to get faster and advance, but Dolphin is what needs to advance and allow a decent PC of today to run the emulator well. I think the idea is to fix the problems that the emulator has, not just throw more power at a broken piece of code.
For me I think computer today is enough to run All Wii/GC Game at full speed. The real matter is only dolphin code.Current svn of donphin maybe need the next five year computer to run game at full speed. But the next five year code of dolphin(if still continue) maybe also has probability to run today computer at full speed too.for example try the newest stable build of dolphin compare to the last year stable build.
right i was also thinking that myself that it isn't the computer (as much) but it has more to do with the code of dolphin b/c again you know how sometimes people report certain revs working really well on there computer all of a sudden....
well there hardware didn't improve all of a sudden...it was dolphin's code!
so yeah we should focus more on the code rather than what is the best computer to use it on
and hopefully in the future there is a throttle/fps option
The turbo mode?, of course there is one, it consists on not limiting the max FPS, just like EVERY other emulator does.
Although if your PC can't even reach full FPS on normal mode, it is completely useless to enable it.
