Once you turn off Hyperthreading it will be pumping at some very nice speeds. If you search teh forums, people many people have asked what was causing there i7 to go so slowly and after turning off hyperthread the speeds were way up. You really shouldn't see any speed difference between XP or 7 unless one was 32 bit. The hyperthreading is the biggy on the I7.

i clocked it to 3.8ghz with HT off and man its made a difference. only in big areas do i get low fps now. maybe down to about 30 at the lowest
much more playable though. gonna update my graphics now but i doubt that will make things much faster cause i think im already on catalyst 9.8 or something

thanks for the help

i made a mistake, you see i thought i was getting better fps because well they were fine kinda, or better than they were.
now that ive gone back to an area i used to be in where the fps were low.. well theyre still the same
im getting like 20fps in the chozo ruins area when u walk in the normal way..
Well that seems to be outside the bounds of your Pc. That is... dolphin does not run everything fullspeed so expect some slowdowns even on the best of systems. I don't really know what to tell you on that but to try out some different configurations, keep your processes outside of dolphin to a minimum and check back on newer svn versions. You had stated you had went back to xp. Just a fyi that 64 bit runs faster then 32 bit version and that you can drop processes down to like 17 or so. You could get gamebooster but all that is doing is shutting down processes for you easier. Really all I know on that. Sorry man.
try to play the game in 800x600 resolution, please.
if it runs fullspeed then you know that your graphics card is the problem.

i noticed a speedup when i overclock my radeon 4770 while playing f-zero gx...
i never thought this would happen... but i noticed to gain some fps i need to fullspeed when i overclock the ram to 1050Mhz and the GPU to 900Mhz.
and i play in 1280x1024

fps are exactly the same after changing from 1920 x 1080 to 800 x 600
