I've been trying to get this to work on Dolphin but so far no luck.

I heard some mentions of Pal or something, can someone explain to me what that is?
Pal is a regional thing for games just like NTSC etc..

Usually Pal games are most of Europe and other surrounding countries as well as South America , NTSC is typically Japan and the USA as well as some other countries.

If you have and NTSC copy of the game your two choices are to either wait until it is compatible with Dolphin or import a Pal copy of the game and rip it to your PC.
I think I follow for the most part but why would I only rip it if it was Pal and not NTSC?

Because the PAL version works, while the NTSC version doesn't.

Are NTSC versions protected against it or something?

Thread necromancy is go!!

My apologies, but I've been trying to use Dolphin to run this game, and I just can't manage to do it, and I figure that since this is the official thread for the game, it's the right place to post about it.

The game boots fine, shows me the logos, keeps loading, and then, since it's the first boot, it shows me the license agreement and then asks me to confirm the date. Up to this point, fine; but as soon as I press on OK to move on, the game hangs up with an entirely black screen and a repetitive, neverending sound.
Now, it's been ages since I last played this game on my GC, but IIRC, this is the point at which the game creates the savegame file.

I'm using a PAL-EU version, tried with the latest release (3.0-776) as well as 3.0-432 which appears on the Wiki as working without a problem on the Testing section.

My PC is an intel i5 2500k, 8GB Ram and an ATi 6850HD 1GB, which I think should be more than capable of running the emulation.

Also, this is my first time ever trying to use Dolphin, so if there's something that might be plainly obvious but surely noone should be stupid enough to miss it, please do point it out, because it's likely I did miss it.

Thanks in advance.
It's a good thing you revived the topic, I wanted to ask people that own the japanesse verison of these game if they could upload the raw image with the savegame or even better, try to transfer the saves to a different card image (not a copy, but a different raw image created by dolphin for another game) using the latest svn version and the integrated memory card manager, which has a patch to allow transfering the files to any memory card.

I know the patch works for PAL and USA versions, but it'd be great to confirm it working for the japanesse versions too.
