(01-30-2010, 06:10 PM)guile Wrote: [ -> ]Ok, I f'd up! I have been running Dolphin on an 5000+ AMD with a VERY modest graphics card (ATI hd2600xt) for a while now. Some things worked pretty good, some didn't. New Super Mario ran almost perfectly!

I decided it's time to get something much faster! I want to be running Dolphin at full speed on just about anything/everything I throw at it.

I got an Alienware Aurora with a Core i7 920 overclocked to 3.33 ghz. I also have an HD5870 graphics card with 6 gig of the fastest DDR3 ram out there. Guess what???...this thing can't even run New Super Mario right! Btw, I'm running the 64 bit version of Windows 7. I only have two options now for graphics plugins, Opengl and Dolphin renderer. Anybody have any ideas?

If your serious and not just taking the piss: Get rid of 64 bit OS. Or it least have a 32 bit partition for Dolphin.
set it up right and it should fly =P
Worst, most ignorant recommendation... EVER. You fail, sir.

If I'm running Directx 11, how would I know if there has been any updates at this point?

Check you're Windows Update history?
Also update your DX9, separately.

Glad to find out HT seems to get in the way of dolphin then xD
(i5, hyper thread-less here).

its not, if i disable HT on my P4 dolphin run as poorly as the P4 2,4Ghz downstairs (which doesn't have SSE3 , HT and has less l2 cache/clocked lower)
The only reason many laptops using i7 have problems running dolphin is because the manufacturers implement CPU throttling on the BIOS.

Google it, you'll find it.

Guess what? Dell is the one who does this more often, followed by Asus.

Dolphin needs you have to have the libraries listed below installed.

[Windows]
-MS Visual C++ Runtime 2008 SP1: This fixes the "side by side" / "application config" & model errors
Microsoft VC++ 2008 SP1 Redist x86 - For 32bit Windows
Microsoft VC++ 2008 SP1 Redist x64 - For 64bit Windows

-The DirectX March 2009 Runtime: This fixes the plugin loading errors
Note: THIS MEANS UPDATE YOUR DIRECTX EVEN IF YOU HAVE THE VERSION 9.0c or 10 or 10.1!!!!!!
Microsoft DirectX Updater

Also I would recommend to disable the hyper threading , and you should be fine

And don't worry about the 64 bit OS Tongue

Bingo....we have a winner! Thanks bro, problem solved! Running silky smooth now.
