Funnily enough, the only time I get slowdown is during the vehicle select screen and the countdown of any Mute City track. As soon as the narrator says "GO!" the game jumps to full speed and never even sweats. It's incredible at 1080p with 9xaa!

I'm using the PAL version of the game, and you can select 60 hz mode right at the startup of the game, so don't fear about slowdowns with using PAL. I experienced much better stability with the PAL version, I can even enable Dual Core with it.

Using Lectrode's Dolphin-3.0-432-gee09def_x64 build, here's the images I took with all the settings you should need:

I'm running Dolphin on a Core i5 2500k overclocked to 4.5 ghz with a Radeon HD 6950 1gb OC. As I said, during any race on any course, even Sand Ocean, I am able to play 100% speed. The most important setting is to "Skip EFB Access from CPU". When this option is checked I saw immense speed gains. This is exciting to me because not even a few months ago I was extremely sad that I couldn't experience my favorite GC game of all-time in HD. This game is WAY ahead of its time and is unmatched on so many levels. No racing game has ever even come close!

I hope these settings work for anyone who runs across this post. I just wanted to share my joy and excitement with you guys! Hopefully others can experience the happiness that I'm having with this game right now. Big Grin

Thanks. ill try this later, my pc is close to yours i think so i might get smilar results.

Big Grin
I tried to play it, but on my pc even with sound off and everything set up to max the speed and frame skip at 1 I won't get more than 60%
So quite unplayable for me.

I did not see this post before. Thanks sonicether for those impressions.

I wonder if the speed increases are due to the latest builds? sonicether or anyone else, have you compared the speed of Lectrode's latest builds to old builds of Dolphin?

The reason I have been hesitant about updating is because I heard stories from people that say the game crashes more frequently on recent builds. Is this true?
Just try it out Wink

You can also try my own ICC builds.

Thanks....what is "ICC" and what is the benefit of it?

ICC stands for "Intel C++ Composer/Compiler". Programs, which are built with this special compiler, usually are faster (but this depends on the CPU.), because if you're compiling, you can set Streaming SIMD Extensions (SSE4.2, SSE4.1, SSSE3, SSE3 and SSE2) and other optimizations (such as AVX, C99 etc.)

short: ICC Dolphin builds CAN be faster than normal builds. Just try it out.

Got it thanks Smile

Can't try it out right now, cuz my projector is in the shop but I might get it back today.

Just a quick comment....

F-Zero GX now crashes at the startup screen for me in both Defender and Lectrode's builds. I think the main Dolphin devs may have broken something that previously worked in the older builds, as I used to be able to run F-Zero GX just fine.

In addition, I tried running the game using a much older and reliable build of Dolphin today, but when entering the game's menu options screen, all the graphics were missing, and all I see is a blue background. This was NEVER a problem before! I have a suspicion the latest drivers for my AMD 5870 card has screwed something up in Dolphin and is the cause of this issue. Is anyone else experiencing this problem with AMD's 12.1 preview drivers or later?

Seems I'm gonna need to switch to nVidia, because I'm getting fed up with the crappy drivers AMD are releasing for their cards.

Finally, it seems the Dolphin devs have broken something with Xinput, as it is not working properly. I have a custom written xInput.dll file for my steering wheel, and the emu does not acknowledge it upon starting the game. It works perfectly in older Dolphin builds, so I'm at a loss as to why it's not working now. Could a dev look into this?
Anything you're reporting here is likely to not be seen by the devs who care... rather go to our gcode dev website and create an issue there. However, keep in mind that reports like yours are bscly only useful if you can tell us which revision specifically broke stuff (and when you tell us which rev that use, don't use the dumb idiotic stupid rev numbering scheme like "3.0-458", but post the git hash from the about dialog instead).
OK guys, I am an IDIOT!

Previously when downloading DefenderX and Lectrode's builds, I was copying and pasting ALL my old settings and folders into the root Dolphin directory, and I'm fairly certain that there were conflicts being caused by this. F-ZeroGX was crashing.

Now, I have run a brand new install from Lectrode and DefenderX, and it works! F-ZeroGX runs! Phew! That was worrying for a bit! Man F-Zero looks great on my 1080p projector! Can't get full 60fps though. Only about 44-48fps.

Running a core i7 950 OC'ed at 4Ghz.
AMD 5870 1GB
6Gb DDR3 Ram
Windows 7 Ultimate
2TB HDD

Quick question.... when starting the game, why does Dolphin tell me that I have my processor running at 3.02Ghz, when I have it OC'ed to 4.0Ghz? Could it be that Dolphin only sees what the processor "normally" runs at, and ignores the fact that it's overclocked?
