To all those who are experiencing really slow speeds or freezing I would recommend trying DX9 with OpenCL DISABLED. I have been battling with poor speeds on this game for a while now and decided to mess around with it today.
Only when I deleted all of the config files and started from scratch did I notice a huge increase in FPS (even in the latest builds) and after much trial and error I finally got it pegged to the OpenCL switch.

i always had Open CL disabled.
some slowdowns happen to me in some tracks when you see a lot of stuff from afar, like Port Town i think, and some others. And some occasional hiccups.
well disabling opencl might have increased my fps by about 1 or 2.

okay so I think i was using lle and that is what was causing the slowdown. on the character selection screen i get 20 fps but vps stays at 100. during the first race i get full fps most of the time and usually if it drops, my vps stays at 100%. will report back after i get to play more levels.

yeah definitely looks like i get full speed during most races. the countdown at the beginning of the first race is always a little slow.

i experience atm a strange loop of restarting the game in r7379. it happens after choosing between 50/60hz and loading of the savegame. enyone else got this too?
it happens to NTSC-U too.
It is a new "ISSUE" and the FPS is low now too.

I've seen that too. It also doesn't boot with DX11 anymore. And it needs MMU speed hack to boot on DX9. A lot of weird launch issues there.

it boots with DX11 only if you disable dual core, which makes the game go even slower...

Here too,on old rev i get fullspeed.
Perhaps is an issue related to Fifo.
Hmm, let's hope it gets straytenned out soon.
