V-sync + "Dual Core" causes stability issues sometimes. Turning either one off fixes the crashing.
Hi guys. I finally got my desktop back from RMA. Been running the F-ZeroGX for a little bit and as expected, it's running much faster than it was on my laptop. I've found that on most tracks, even with "Widescreen Hack" and "Force 16:9" enabled, I get around a nice 55-60fps. Some tracks I'm not so lucky, with framerates around mid-40s. Unchecking "Widescreen Hack" and Force 16:9" however, allows me to maintain a buttery smooth 60fps 95% of the time on most tracks, except for Sand Ocean and Big Blue.
I dunno, for some craaaazy reason, SO was a track that ran buttery smooth on my laptop, and that has even worse specs than my desktop(Intel C2D @ 3.0Ghz vs Intel Core i7 950 OC'ed to 4.0Ghz). Strange. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that my laptop has two nVidia 280GTXm's running together in SLI mode, while my desktop only has one card...an ATI 5870, which is still more powerful. But still, I wonder if Dolphin takes advantage of dual GPUs running SLI/Crossfire. Does anyone know?
Anyhow I'm happy with the way it runs. Finally F-ZeroGX in Hi-Rez at 60fps 90% of the time. Skid the fucking man. He should be president of Nintendo.
Only thing that hampers my experience when playing this game, is the fact that my current wheel, which you can see in
*THIS VIDEO*, is a very strong FFB wheel but is not designed to be used with non-FFB games. As a result, the wheel feels very loose and unsatisfactory. If only Billiard would figure out how to add vibration/ffb to his GC plugin for my wheel, I'd be set. Hopefully he will some time to do it in the not so distant future

Wow, I couldn't even imagine playing this game with a wheel, lol. It's so fast! You must have to just hammer the wheel left and right on some courses.
I'm thinking about getting one of the Mad Catz or Hori arcade sticks for use with my pc. I wonder how that would work for FZGX...
i got a small problems with shadows under the vehicles. its not exactly a shadow, but an ugly square. how can i fix that one? Anyway, the hint with unchecking vsync helped me a lot with random crashes, thx!
It's a known issues, can't be fixed till now.I haven't test lastest rev but you could try EFB copy to Ram
Unfortunately i cannot check EFB to Ram, only to Texture...i can only use Ram, when using Direct X 9 instead of Direct X 11.
then just use dx9 instead?

Yeah, that was the silliest thing I've heard in a while. Geez...

Hey guys, been enjoying some more F-Zero. A few random thoughts and questions:
1)Hey Skid....

I've seen you mention this FIFO thing more than once. Is this something that when fixed, help make the game run smoother and more stable?
2)Can anyone tell me why DX11 does not run as smoothly as DX9 in F-ZeroGX? I find that strange, given how much faster Dolphin is suppose to perform in DX11.
3)The other thing I'd like to mention is directed towards those of you who own ATI 4xxx series or 5xxx series cards....have any of you tried running Dolphin with a program called Radeon Pro in the background? It allows you to force certain graphical settings on your ATI card, such as V-Sync, Anisotropic Filtering, AA, etc. One thing it also has, is an option called "CPU Affinity", with check boxes next to the number of processors your PC has. Do you suppose if I check a box next to all 8 of my CPU processors(I have a Core i7), Dolphin will be forced to take advantage of all of them, resulting in a significant speed boost in F-ZeroGX? Just a theory.

2) Dolphin isn't supposed to run faster in DX11... quite the opposite.
3) I somewhat doubt it...
