I've given you a screenshot of how i have the wiimote / xbox 360 controller emulated for mario on the wii, have the sideways checked, all controls are accessable and R1 is jump spin.

Wiimote + mouse is a must for many of us that just can't find or build a sensor bar and are not willing to light candles just for that matter.

The "hybrid" input source should allow you to use a real wiimote with a mouse controlled IR pointer.
