Full Version: Help with random frame drops on Vulkan

Hi,

I'm trying to play Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour but I keep getting random frame drops. The game runs at 60fps, but every now and then (and fairly often) it drops down to 0 or 10fps then comes back up to 60 again.

I have an RTX 3090 and an i9-10900k so I wouldn't have thought there should be any performance issues, even using 3x native.

Here's a screenshot of my Dolphin settings:

And a video of the issue. You can see the frame rate at the top and when it's very clear when it drops.

It works a lot better on Direct 3D 12 admittedly, but I know according to the Dolphin Wiki that Vulkan is preferred for Nvidia cards. I appreciate I can use D3D12 but I'm trying to figure out if this is an issue with my settings, maybe some other issue with my PC, or something else. I've not used Dolphin in the past year as I've been away from home a lot and with work and other things I've not had much of a chance to play games, but at the end of 2022 I played through F-Zero GX with no issues, and I've always used Vulkan for as long as I can remember.

It's worth noting I've tried Vulkan with other shaders options but I still have the same issue.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm playing on D3D12 for now but just want to try and troubleshoot the issue for the future
I'm not sure that you want Exclusive Ubershaders, try switching to Hybrid.
