So I played Mario Galaxy 1 with Dolphin and a controller years ago and had a great experience; now I'm done waiting for 2 to turn up on Switch, so I want to do the same with 2. But all of the tutorials online are outdated, Dolphin's backend file structure has changed. Can anyone advise how to set up a controller with right stick controlling the IR (that disappears after a few seconds) in 2022?
You'll want to use the Motion Simulation tab when configuring an emulated Wii Remote. The Infrared (IR) options are what you want to configure to your right stick. You'll want to set a decent deadzone (until the dot is consistently gray when you're not touching the control stick) You'll want relative input and Auto-Hide on, which means it'll disappear after you stop touching the stick for a few seconds.

Shake you can map to a button. Everything else is just setup however you want. Tilt + Upright Wiimote are needed for Rolling Masterpiece levels. If you have a DS4 or different motion controller, you can use the SDL backend or a DSU Server to use your controller's Gyro+Accelerometers to make it even more authentic of an experience.

Correction: This is called Point nowadays.

There used to be a premade config, has no one made one since some backend stuff moved around?
