That said, there seems to be some people talking about controller issues on Xiaomi phones, but I can't seem to open Reddit to look into it. The thread is called:
"New POCO F3, can't find Xbox one controller on bluetooth"

I checked mine and it's model 1708. As for whether it'll work well with your phone, I can't say for sure, since I've never owned a Xiaomi device (I've stuck with LG or OnePlus since Android became common), but it has never failed me once on my phones. My only gripe with it is the lack of a battery indicator, it just up and dies on me when the batteries run out. I use it with AA batteries, but I think it behaves the same way with the official rechargeable battery pack. Clips to hold the phone are also more widely available and cheaper than those for the DS4. Those pairing difficulties may be due to the rather unintuitive way to pair the controller, though I haven't seen the actual threads.
In that case, I should do some more research regarding Xiaomi phones and their compatibility with controllers in general. Really, really don't want to resort to rooting.

Thanks a lot for your replies. At least I know which model I should look for if I decide to buy an Xbox One S controller.
Still haven't gotten a controller, but I wanted to ask this. Is it true that CTGP-R doesn't work with Dolphin? MK Wii is also one of the games I mostly get back to these days, and CTGP-R added more replayability to it (for better or worse). Not sure if this applies to Dolphin on Android or both that and the desktop version.

Though if my research isn't off, I read that v1.02 does work with Dolphin (but again, not sure if this applies to the Android version). So I wanted to confirm this.

Can't help you there, I honestly hadn't even heard of that until right now. Maybe the mods/devs know

Yes.
^ All versions in general or just v1.03?
I'm not sure if older CTGP versions have been tested on newer Dolphin versions. I guess you can always give it a try, but don't count on it working.

Either way, the compatibility should be the same on Android as on PC.
Just going off from what I see in some comments on the matter, but yeah, unless I try it out for myself I won't know for certain if it works or not.
Wanted to confirm something before making a purchase. I've been told that if I plug a cable to the USB-C port of my phone, there will be no latency at all, regardless of what controller I use (could be an Ipega, PS4, Xbox One, something called Gamepad X7, etc.) Is this true?
Yes, wired controllers do tend to have lower latency. However, the proper cables or adapters may be hard to find and/or cumbersome
