I just tested a couple builds from may / jun 2021 and I still can't pair my wiimote.

Steps I take:

Select Real Wii Remote on Dolphin Wii Remote 1
Press the sync button on my wiimote so it blinks

Check / Uncheck Consinuous Scanning / Press Refresh, nothing works,

Controller keeps blinking without syncing, and a seconds later it stops blinking and enters in stand by mode, without syncing.

All this was tested with Dolphin manually added to the following permissions lists on mac:
- Bluetooth
- Developer Tools
- Input Monitoring
- Accessibility

I am also a developer but I have zero experience with the dolphin codebase, my intention was just to play a little, but I can help with any tests if necessary.
Ah well, it was worth a try!
I ran into this but luckily already have a Mayflash USB sensor bar and that just worked (to quote Apple). Plugged it into the USB port, pushed sync on the bar, pushed 1&2 on the controller. I had "continuous scan" turned on in Dolphin. I don't know if they still make them but it's a good solution.

They do still make them, and they still work! Mine came this week, and my Wiimote now works, with a few kinks (like severe twitching on the Wii Menu).
I still have this issue and have not found a way to connect the controller. Is it possible in MacOS now to get this to work properly?
hate to break it to everyone in this thread, but I don't think there's anything we can do (right now (with the information we have))

the issue with wiimote pairing is due to an update in macOS Monterey that broke a lot bluetooth functionally. I've made countless searches, done lots of digging, and I have so far been unable to find a manual fix for it. people have submitted bug reports to apple since monterey released, but so far apple seem to have completely ignored the issue and no patches have been pushed for it in the past six months.

I'll be sure to come back to this thread if some niche manual fix arrives, but for now it seems all we can do is sit and pray that the apple gods give us a stupid bluetooth fix.

Apparently an external BT receiver can do the trick with BT passthrough (they mention TP-Link UB400 as a tested and working receiver)
